21/01/10 - Eddy Shah endorses Swindon Conservatives at Business Club
Eddy Shah, one of Wiltshire's most successful businessmen, has endorsed Swindon's two Conservative Parliamentary candidates during a speech to a new business forum.
Mr Shah, proprietor of the Wiltshire Golf & Country Club and founder of Today newspaper, was addressing the William Pitt Club of Swindon at Blunsdon House Hotel on Wednesday 13 January.
Speaking to Conservative Candidates Justin Tomlinson (North Swindon) and Robert Buckland (South Swindon), Mr Shah said, You can do it. Labours majorities are not big. Keep smiling and kissing babies!
Talking about the last twelve years of Labour government, Mr Shah said, The unions and the left have crept back into power, this time using health and safety, political correctness, racial and religious prejudice and intolerance, a dismissal of that dirty thing called a profit, of making everyone in education achieve the same level and giving everyone easy pass marks which is making us a nation of dunderheads, of suppressing initiative and original thought, and all those other, often honest, liberal views theyve hijacked to get their power base back.
And theyve used the strength of the bloated public services to create strikes and turmoil in our society.
Mr Shah said he hoped David Cameron would be a strong leader who would stand up to the unions, and he wished Swindon Conservatives well in the forthcoming elections.
The next meeting of the William Pitt Club of Swindon is on Wednesday 3 March, when the Conservative Parliamentary candidates will be addressing a business breakfast at the Blunsdon House Hotel. For details please email: peter@swindonconservatives.com.
